I love this game and salute you for bringing it to the DS! I have heard that they are releasing a retail version of this game ‘Panel de Pon’ for the DS. This version uses the DS in portrait mode! Perhaps you could beat them to the punch and incorporate this feature into your version? I am going to download this puppy tonight. Well done and keep up the hard work. I have a feeling yours will be better than the ‘official’ one by miles!

Well I could do that but some people might want to control it with the d-pad, and that won’t work very well while holding the DS like that. In that case you would need to be able to switch between the two ways of holding it, and that seems like a lot of work.

Are there any plans for a time attack mode? I always found that addicting.
February 24th, 2007 at 20:35
BEST HOMEBREW GAME EVER, seriously this beats any game I’ve ever played on the ds. so addictive…

Hey, why isn’t your server working?
February 24th, 2007 at 23:45
It crashed, sorry
February 25th, 2007 at 08:46
Hey, I’m having a blast playing this online w/ other people. Got any forums to communicate with other players?

Working well on my DS-Xtreme. Top game, very professional.

If you want to be exactly true to the Tetris Attack game, you need to have a slight delay when blocks are cleared such that blocks directly on top of them do not fall, but any block that is currently falling will drop into place. right now no matter what my timing is the blocks that are currently falling always stop before they hit the empty space.

Hmm my example didn’t show earlier, I hope you know what I’m talking about though, it’s exhibited in many of tetris attack’s puzzles. There are three clearing blocks, and two matching blocks above them…you drop a block down into the clearing blocks space before the matching blocks have gotten a chance to fall. This allows for chains that are not presently possible in your version. Hope my input helps!

Hi again. I have now tried this game and it is incredible what you have achieved. There are a couple of bugs I spotted eg, when paused - nothing pops up to say that its paused. Which can be a tad confusing. Also there appears to be no sound effect when you match 3 blocks, and subsequent combo matches or matches of more than 3 block is fine though. I will avidly follow this game and its development as it could become my fave title on the DS yet! You are 95% there buddy! Keep going and I will champion your cause!

Hey guys,
Fantastic Game! How about some wireless play, not just over internet!
Thanks a lot for this game! i loved tetris attack with Yoshi. This is a fantasy!

LtDyson52: No sorry. Currently you need to enter the server and wait. Unfortunately the server keeps crashing :-(. I started it through gdb now, that should help. I’m not sure why I didn’t think of that earlier, probably because you can’t do that on the DS.
Sean: Maybe we dont need to be *exactly* like Tetris Attack :-), but I’ll look into it.
sylewis: Yeah, the pause screen is on my list of things to take care of, but sound effects are not top priority right now.

Hey guys, I’m working on a feature for Modojo about homebrew teams and I’d love to interview you guys (either thru e-mail or IM). Please e-mail me and let me know if this interests you or not. The feature is going to run early sometime next week, so I’m hoping you get back to me ASAP.

Excellent game! this is one of my favorites on DS. I wish there were a time trial mode so we could compare scores online! But otherwise awesome job, nice selection of colors and graphics.

Pretty polished game, too bad I don’t have a NDS to try it yet… I am pretty behind with NDS homebrew *cough*
Keep up the great work!

Hi guys. Fantastic game. Great work. I think I may have found some bugs. Not sure what happened, but it only happens on a specific Nintendo DS system. I have two. I try the same game on the other DS and it works fine. Endless and VS Self modes seem to work just fine. It’s just Highscores and Wifi Play that are screwed up. And it’s only on this specific DS. I can’t find anything wrong with the DS. Already tried erasing the game off the slot1 card and reinstalling a fresh copy. Seems like the DS saves all the screwed up scores somehow even after I’ve deleted the .sav file and started fresh. Any ideas? Thanks!
Here’s what happens:
All my highscores seem to be screwed up like in the million digit range. Also when I try to play “Wifi Play”, I get this screen everytime:
r00: 0×00000000
r01: 0×000000c9
r02: 0×00000020
r03: 0×0000007e
r04: 0×020d6689
r05: 0×00000000

This looks amazing, i stumbled onto this site and must say your home brew skillz look quite sharp. Makes me want a DS hard…. Being a huge fan of tetris attack, i thought that others might want to know about “ultimate block party” for the psp. It’s very similar to tetris attack, but instead of a [ ][ ] cursor, you have a 4×4 square that rotates clockwise or counter clockwise, makes it very interesting… Just thought i’d pass this along to fellow puzzle enthusiasts. And i’ll be getting a ds soon just for this.

if you are into Sudoku you shall check out Kakuro which is a new puzzle game that’s getting popular lately

I got a similar bug once, while I was playing in endless mode. Not sure what happened, but it happened only once…. so…
One probably bug I got is this:
Imagine this block disposure, all blocks of same color (never mind the numbers):
[4]
[1][2] [3]
If I pull block number 3 to the left:
[4]
[1][2][3]
block 4 will fall
[1][2][3][4]
and ALL the blocks should disapear, but unfortunatly number will 4 remain.
** ** ** [4]
is that a real bug? or the original game does that too?
thanks

It crashes sometimes, but I haven’t been able to figure out when. I’ve never seen it in endless mode though.
About the other issue. It’s like that in the original game if I remember correctly. The reason is that is takes a certain amount of time for the block to fall down, and the other blocks have already started popping.

Thanks for making a fan made Tetris Attack game. I downloaded it but I have no idea how to play this game on my DS. There’s no instructions on how to. Can anyone help me?

There are lots of ways of running it. Here are some links to get you started:

There are also newer cards than mentioned there.

Tack.

There will be a wireless versus mode?
April 22nd, 2007 at 13:15
Not unless somebody writes a wifi-lib that supports ad-hoc mode. Until that happens you need an access point to be able to play.

i gave it (finally) a try today. It looks like there’s a tool “pimpmybmp” missing to build the sources on a fresh Devkitpro install (linux, ubuntu)
Gonna google for that
