This blog is protected by Spam Karma 2. Don’t even think about spamming it.

I’ve installed the updated and tweaked edition of Spam Karma 2 to help with the annoying spam that been sent flying at a number of our blogs.

This plug-in can be activated in plugins and then clicking Options and Spam Karma 2.

Lets hope this sorts our issues - Once again, any problems give me a message.

Hey,
The newest stable release of the blog engine has been installed on blog.dev-scene.com and let me put this on the record.

I NEVER WANT TO INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE AGAIN… EVER!

The upgrader is almost non-existant and gives minimal error reporting. Thank my mind for remembering to backup :)

The good news is the new release eg WordpressMU 1.1.1 looks very nice but like normal these upgrades seem to be bug fixes only with very little change in functionality or design. I need to make sure the cache system is working but the system itself seems to be working fine.

I’ve updated some of the themes - so you might be required to reselect your theme if your theme has been reset to default.

If you experience any problems/issues/bugs at all - Please inform me of it. I can inform the official developers and get the issue sorted.

My Dev-Scene TODO list is almost empty :)

Hey, I’ve been working on Dev-Scene for the last few months and has been re-designed and re-built.. improved.. updated.. broken.. fixed and upgraded into the beast as you see it now. I’ve always had big plans for Dev-Scene and after months of work, I can finally see everything coming together…

I never stop working on the frontend using Mediawiki to make everything easy to navigate and easy to use. I’ve continued working on the back-end using PHP to make it easy for myself and others to expand and offer as many fully functional and relevant services as possible.

The frontpage has been redesigned recently to look as minimalist as possible - I’ve always wanted to allow Dev-Scene to support the larger community of homebrew hardware devices such as the PSP and GP2X and this was included quickly into our design but I was unable to manage it myself and I had very little cooperation with anyone from the other communities.

I have recently hidden the non DS/Wii related portals and news from the front page but D-S still supports them and they can be resurrected if anything feels upto the challenge, while I will continue to manage the DS/Wii content personally.

I would like to thank Dovoto, Davr, Arog, Wintermute, StoneCypher, natrium42, Lick and anyone else who has made this project the beautiful piece of web 2.0, it is today :)

The only thing on my list of things to do is….. GET MORE HELP!

The real problem I’ve faced in the last few months is real life - I’ve been working two jobs, moving house, having a life, having a girl and all the other fun stuff.. this has caused delays in the news/updates/mirrors and issues keeping up with the homebrew catalog.

Hopefully I can find and train a bunch of people to keep the Dev-Scene running when I’m bogged down.

D-S Blogs Updated.. Broken.. Fixed :)

I’ve upgraded Dev-Scene blogs from 1.0 to release 1.1!

Upgrade was without issue and has given us over 300 updates Smile

Updated: After uploading a new skin for Lick.. I noticed there was a small problem with some of the javascript.

so I decided to fix it by installing some updates based on bleeding edge.. forgetting about some of the functions that were removed from the last stable build.. I promptly broke it.

FIXED NOW!

Sorry about the downtime.

I’ve decided to start the new year with a little help and support for the homebrew developers in our fantastic community. A chance for us to give back to the many homebrew developers make the homebrew for our enjoyment!

Support the community and the developers by donating to the people who make a impact, improve and encourage our community to grow.

All money goes towards the developer via Paypal.

Donations made using the ChipIN buttons are listed and will be shown publically.

P.S. I would love to offer prizes to people whom donate towards the developers in our community. I’m going to email around but if anyone is willing to donate prizes, that would be greatly appreciated.

How to post news on Dev-Scene

Dev-Scene No Comments »

In the next few weeks, I will have hopefully completed the front/backend extensions I’m using for Dev-Scene. This will hopefully speed everything up and make D-S alot easier to manage.

Recently the news section has been re-built using the recent DPG2 plug-in release and the RSS feeds have returned thanks to Davr. This has made the process of posting news on Dev-Scene very simple and allows Dev-Scene to become community driven as any developer can post news of their recent releases themselves if they wish.

I’ve posted a guide on D-S incase anyone wishes to post news but remember all news is checked/double checked by the editors/moderators and we will catch any mistakes and “off-topic” articles will be deleted.

Don’t think about using this for spam or anything funny!

Want to see Quake/Quake2 for the DS?

DS Homebrew No Comments »

Simonjhall hasn’t slowed down after his wireless debugging projects and has jumped into his next project Quake and Quake2 for the DS!

Back from the Debugger Wars and have been looking for something to do for a laugh…but I may have bitten off more than I can chew!

I need to get a card which has extra RAM. I’ve heard that the M3 has faster RAM than the Supercard, so I’d choose that one. Do they both have the same amount of memory? Looking through the Moonshell source seems to imply that the M3 has ‘only’ 16 megs, but the regular Supercard has 32. Does anyone know if this is true? And for those doubters, I’ll say this now: there’s no way that Q2 will run without extra memory. Whether that’s real extra memory, virtual memory on a disk or some kind of ROM. - Simon

Donate to help Simon get a Supercard/M3 and continue work on Quake and his other DS homebrew projects.

Testing a whole bunch of non-sense :D

Monorail Cat

I’ve installed the K2 skin but due to the use of javascript/AJAX - It caused a massive amount of CPU usage and has sadly been removed.

Updated: dualscreenman has digg’ed his lastest blog entry and brought down the Digg-effect on me.

I’ve installed WP-Cache to deal with the increased server load… It always seems to be Digg that takes us down.

Updated again: I’ve fixed the WP-Cache and the Blank Page issue, so its no-longer required to re-fresh the broken pages.
